Called at six in the morning when the fresh food side had climbed to fifty. The tech found the evaporator fan seized behind the back panel, showed me the frost pattern before he touched anything, and had the part on the van. Back down to thirty-eight by the afternoon.

What we repair
One trade, done properly: Sub-Zero built-in refrigeration and the brands that share the same kitchens. Diagnosis is measured, parts are genuine, and the quote comes before the work.
Call dispatch, any hour (669) 338-4601 Someone picks up at any hour. Same-day slots open and close through the day, so the dispatcher will tell you what is actually free when you call.
Built-in open · temperatures read at the cabinet and at the evaporator
Refrigerators
- — Evaporator fan motors and defrost circuits
- — Control boards, thermistors and harnesses
- — Door gaskets, hinges and cabinet alignment
- — Condenser cleaning and airflow restoration
Freezers
- — Freezer drawers icing at the front
- — Columns that will not hold zero
- — Drain troughs and drain heaters
- — Runner height and drawer squaring
Ice makers
- — No ice, hollow cubes, cloudy ice
- — Fill tubes, inlet valves and supply lines
- — Ice maker modules and level sensors
- — Saddle valves replaced with proper stops
Wine coolers
- — One zone warm on a dual-zone column
- — Zone dampers and their controls
- — Condensation on the inside of the glass
- — Under-counter units choked by cabinetry
Sealed systems
- — Compressors, start relays and overloads
- — Refrigerant leaks located with a detector
- — Filter driers replaced on every opening
- — Deep vacuum and a weighed charge
Symptoms
- — Not cooling
- — Leaking water
- — Making noise

Cheapest and most likely first
There is a fixed order to diagnosing built-in refrigeration, and it exists to stop expensive parts being fitted to solve cheap problems.
Airflow comes first, because a choked condenser or a stalled fan explains a large share of warm cabinets and costs almost nothing to correct. Defrost comes second, because a coil buried in ice produces exactly the same symptom. Electrical comes third: switches, harnesses, thermistors, and only then the control board. The sealed system comes last, and only with gauges on it.
Working the other way round — board first, compressor second — is how people end up paying for a new unit's worth of parts on a machine that needed a fan motor.
We fit genuine OEM Sub-Zero parts. Compressors, evaporator fans, control boards and gaskets come from the manufacturer, not a pattern-part bin.
What the service call buys
-
Model and serial recorded
Everything after this — parts, board revisions, refrigerant charge — is matched to those two numbers.
-
Temperatures read, not guessed
Cabinet and evaporator, with a probe. The display on the door is an input to the diagnosis, not the diagnosis.
-
Airflow and defrost checked
Condenser condition, both fans, defrost heater and thermostat. This is where most faults are found.
-
Electrical measured
Compressor amp draw, relay and overload, thermistor resistance against the chart, board inputs and outputs.
-
Sealed system assessed if indicated
Gauges on the process ports and an electronic leak detector along the joints, before anyone talks about opening it.
-
A written quote
Named part, named labour. You decide with the number in front of you, and the $89 comes off if you go ahead.
Recent work, in their words
Our dual-zone wine unit was running warm on the top shelf only. He explained that the upper zone has its own damper and that the motor had failed open. Replaced it, ran the unit for forty minutes to confirm both zones held, and logged the temperatures for me.
Twenty-year-old 632. Two other companies told me to replace it. These people put gauges on it, found the low-side pressure was fine and the problem was a shorted defrost heater. Fixed for a fraction of what a new one costs.
Service questions
Do you work on anything besides Sub-Zero?
Yes — Wolf, Cove and the other built-in brands that sit in the same kitchens. Sub-Zero refrigeration is the core of what we do because it is what most of these calls are about.
Can you handle two appliances in one visit?
Usually, if you say so when booking. Two units on the same job means one service call rather than two, but the dispatcher needs to know in advance so the slot is long enough.
Do you do installation or just repair?
Repair and service. That includes putting right an installation problem we find — a kinked water line, a missing grille clearance, a door that was never squared to the cabinet.
What if the part is not on the van?
It is ordered against your serial number and the second visit is booked before we leave. Boards and compressors nearly always work this way; fans, heaters, thermistors and gaskets nearly always do not.
Tell the dispatcher the model number and what it is doing
It is stamped on a plate inside the fresh-food compartment, usually on the upper left wall or behind the top grille. With the model in hand the van gets loaded with the parts that unit actually fails on, which is the difference between one visit and two.
